Acapulco Gold

Fifth on debut at Saint-Cloud the end of last month, Acapulco Gold (Bungle Inthejungle ex Velvet Revolver) took the step up in class well to land Vichy’s feature, the 1000m Listed Prix des Reves d’Or. She showed instant benefit from her first outing to bag this black-type success in dynamic style. Breaking from the stalls smartly, the daughter of Bungle Inthejungle soon pricked up the lead, angled over to the stand’s rail from her wide draw by Stephane Pasquier, chased by Night Hunting. Picking up from outside the 2f pole, the bay never looked likely to relinquish her lead at any stage and hit the line with ears pricked, winning unchallenged by two and a half lengths. Fabrice Chappet said that he next target will be the Prix du Vallée d’Auge at Deauville on the 15th August.

Bred by owner Chris Wright’s Stratford Place Stud (who also bred her sire), she is a half sister to the dual Listed scorer and dual Group-placed Ken Colt (Kendargent), out of the dual Italian Gr.3-placed Velvet Revolver. She is out of Gr.2 Prix du Gros-Chene and Gr.3 Prix de Seine-et-Oise placed Noble Kara, who is a half-sister to the three-year-old French victress Strange Behaviour. Congratulations to Chris Wright who has been a fantastic supporter of Bungle Inthejungle and to trainer Fabrice Chappet. Bungle Inthejungle has now produced a Stakes winner in all of his crops and this year it is especially noteworthy that he has a crop of only 13 named foals.
