About Us

Rathasker Stud is situated on 400 acres of top quality Kildare land. Kildare has long been regarded as one of the finest locations in the world to bred high-class bloodstock.

Maurice Burns is pictured on the far right, his daughter Madeline beside him on right and his wife Theresa is pictured on the far left. Rathasker is very much a family run farm, Maurice has been assisted by Theresa since the stud was purchased in the mid 80’s. Having graduated from UCD with a degree in Commerce International (Spanish) Madeline worked in Australia for leading stud farm Widden and for renowned trainer Gai Waterhouse before returning back to the business.

2018 is set to be an extremely exciting year for Rathasker with the first crop of runners set to hit the track for Bungle Inthejungle, Es Que Love and Gregorian. They have been given every opportunity and will be trained by a diverse group of the best trainers in Europe. Also, we look forward to welcoming the first foals of Coulsty, a Gr.3 winner by top speed producer Kodiac. In addition, Anjaal’s first yearlings will be offered to the market this year and we expect the popularity of his foal sales to continue on with trainers recognising his high class two year old ability in winning the Gr.2 July Stakes and also being fans of his sire, Bahamian Bounty. Clodovil continues to be a constant source of Stakes winners and 2017 saw him produce seven new black type performers. A highlight of Clodovil’s 2017 season was Nicholas Hartery bred Bengali Boys annihilating the Weatherbys Super Sprint field in tremendous fashion for Richard Fahey.  It looks to be a busy and fruitful year ahead. Many thanks to our loyal band of clients for their continuous support.
