Coul Queen (Coulsty ex Lady Spangles) had finished third over 6f and, stepped up in trip, rallied well after being headed 2f out by Paws For Thought to become the latest winner for first season sire Coulsty (Kodiac) at Chepstow. Ridden very positively by John Egan who commented, “first time out she ran a very good race in Chelmsford, I won the race on Jane Chapple Hyam’s On My Way and I think a lot of her – she is entered to run in the Gr.3 Princess Margaret Stakes next week. She’s got a bit of scope. I think there is plenty more to come from Coul Queen. David Evans is talking about entering her in the Group 3 Prestige Stakes at Goodwood over 7f.” She is the third foal out of Starspangledbanner mare Lady Spangles from the family of Poetically, a multiple Stakes winner in her native Canada, US Gr.1 victrix Citronnade, Gr.2 winner Whiskey Wisdom and the Canadian Champion two-year-old filly Primaly.
