Anjaals Bettys Hope wins the Super Sprint

20 Jul 2019

Betty’s Hope (Anjaal ex Miss Poppy) ran second in her first three starts and went postward for this Weatherbys Super Sprint returning off six-furlong triumphs at Chepstow May 23 and at Chelmsford last time July 6. Settled off the pace in rear until coming under pressure to close at halfway, the 14-1 chance launches her bid underneath the stands’ side rail inside the eight pol and was driven out to deny Show Me Show Me by a head on the line. “My wife Louise picked this filly at the sale, there was no interest in her and she paid just three grand,” explained trainer Rod Millman. “Silvestre de Sousa gave her a fantastic ride.” She is the latest foal and one of four scorers out of a half-sister to Gr.1 Nunthorpe Stakes winning sire Kyllachy, the dual Stakes-placed Borders and to the granddam of Stakes-winning Gr.3 Curragh S. third Yulong Baobei. Congratulations to breeder David Hodge!
