George Cornelius a Bungle Bullet on debut at Dundalk

14 Apr 2019

George Cornelius (Bungle Inthejungle ex Havinaconniption) began his career with a tremendous display proving himself to be another Bungle big hitter at Dundalk. He was soon showing in front and proceeded to cut out a strong pace, which he maintained all the way to the line to annihilate his rivals. The Racing Post commented, “George Cornelius soon took up the running and galloped on strongly, gradually put more and more distance between himself and the other six competitors with the winning margin at ten lengths.” He is another demonstration that Bungle Inthejungle is a prolific source of precocity – he is reinforcing that impression with his second crop. Trainer Kieran Cotter said, “We’ve never had him off the bridle before. He just did a demolition job today and that’s what he does at home: out and run and doesn’t stop. He has a bright future and hopefully we’ll be able to hold onto him.” The colt, showing considerable maturity despite being foaled late in the season on April 28, was bred by Rathasker out of placed Aqlaam mare Havinaconniption. Havinaconniption is out of Gr.3 placed Spartacus mare Undaunted Affair, a half sister to Listed scorer Faustina. George Cornelius was sold by Rathasker to Danny Murphy and jockey Mark Gallagher for €29,000 at Goffs Sportsman’s Yearling Sale, and now carries the silks of Stuart John Robinson.
