ALOYSIUS LILIUS A 9th WINNER FOR GREGORIAN

31 Aug 2018

Aloysius Lilius had plenty of racing experience, having finished second twice previously and he put that to good use with a cosy victory over the previous winner Dancing Rave after taking the lead before the furlong marker. Aloysius Lilius was well suited by the drop in trip to 5f and he picked up well to win with a bit in hand. Tom Eaves said, “he won as he liked really and this is a step forward for him.”

He is the first foal out of Nafa, who won six times over the minimum trip. Her dam, the US Stakes winner Champs Elysees, is a half sister to Gr. 2 winner and sire Anshan. Bred by Maurice Burns, Aloysius Lilius was sold at Goffs Sportsman’s 2017 to Stephen Hillen and Kevin Ryan for €46,000. Nafa has a yearling Bungle Inthejungle colt under the Rathasker consignment at the 2018 edition of the Sportsman’s as lot 419.
