Santorini Sun shines on debut at Sandown

11 Aug 2017

Santorini Sun (Born To Sea ex Trentini) overcame missing the break and despite showing her inexperience in the early stages defied all to win first time out at Sandown over 5f. Having been hemmed in inside the final furlong, she kept on well once in the clear and got up in the last stride. She can improve upon this over further which she is bred to do. Her dam, Trentini who hails from a family that the Burns know very well, that of Paddy Burns’ Gr.2 Coventry winner Red Sunset, of Greenland Park who Paddy bred to win the Gr.2 Queen Mary, the Gr.3 Molecomb Stakes and the Gr.2 Lowther Stakes and, also of Gr.2 Queen Anne Stakes and Gr.2 Celebration mile winning sire No Excuse Needed. Trentini has a colt foal at foot by Gregorian and is in foal to Bungle Inthejungle. Thank you to trainer Mick Channon and all at West Ilsley!
