Rathasker bred Al Qahwa shows heart in York victory

Congratulations to David O’Meara and assistant trainer Jason Kelly whose new purchase, Al Qahwa (Fast Company ex Cappucino), won the 6f Infinity Tyres Handicap at York during the Dante meeting. Al Qahwa handled the ground well and outbattled the runner-up in the closing stages. This was his first start for David having previously been trained by Mick Halford to a mark of 100 and he was placed 3rd  in the Gr.3 Round Tower Stakes. Jason Kelly purchased him for 18,000gns at Tattersalls HIT – a purchase that looks well bought now! Jason commented post race, “I can’t really say we expected that but he travelled excellently and it looks like he’s a high-class horse. We thought he might need the run a little bit but he showed loads of boot and plenty of heart in the end.”
