Winning pedigree updates for Clodovil yearlings to be offered at Goffs and at DBS

John McEnery’s Rossenarra Stud bred Tawwaaq, winner of the 5f EBF Fillies Maiden at Sandown Park. Owned by Hamdan Al Maktoum and trained by Roger Varian, Tawwaaq was prominent throughout and stayed on well to get off the mark. She is a half sister to the Listed Rous Stakes and Listed Achilles Stakes winner Steps and the third foal out of the Vettori mare Killinallan. She is a half sister to Gr.3 Palace House Stakes and Gr.3 Prix Du Bois winner Deep Finesse. This is the family of Gr.3 Cornwallis Stakes winner, Halmahera, and Gr.1 Prix Jean Prat winner, Dick Turpin. Excitingly, Tawwaaq has a yearling half sister by Clodovil which will be offered at DBS Premier Sale 2015.

Patrick Burns’ Newland House Stud is the breeder of Corstorphine who won impressively from a fine front running position. Trained by John Oxx and owned by Thomas Barr, the 2yo battled to triumph in the 1m EBF Maiden at Leopardstown and looks one to watch. He showed a fine attitude throughout the two and a half furlongs to fend off the persistent Whiskey Zulu. He is the fifth successful runner produced by the Green Desert mare Misplace, who is already responsible for the Gr.3 Prix De Guiche 3rd Mayweather. The second dam, Misbegotten, won the Listed Prix Finlande and finished 2nd in the Gr.2 (then) Prix de l’Opera. At stud she bred three Stakes winners, the best of which is Gr.1 Falmouth Stakes and Gr.2 Lowther heroine Nahoodh (Clodovil). Misbegotten is also the grandam of Gr.1 Prix Jean Prat second San Marino Grey (Clodovil). Corstorphine has a yearling half brother by Clodovil for the 2015 Goffs Orby Sale – this is a lovely prospect given the Gr.1 nicks with Clodovil in the pedigree.

Congratulations to all!
