Born To Sea to cover Southern Hemisphere time

BORN TO SEA, who has just completed his second season at Rathasker Stud in Naas, will cover a book of mares to southern hemisphere time this autumn. His fee will be €6,000.

Born To Sea is by sire-of-the-moment Invincible Spirit, sire of 2013-2014 Australian champion first season sire, I Am Invincible, and one of the leading contenders for the European first season sire title, Zebedee. He is the final foal out of the outstanding producer Urban Sea, whose eight winners include the mighty Galileo and Sea The Stars. 

The five-year-old carried the colours of his owner-breeder Christopher Tsui, who said: "Following on from the enormous success of the first crop of three-year-olds by Sea The Stars, there has been huge interest in his half-bother, Born To Sea, and we have decided that his international appeal will be enhanced by taking limited numbers to southern hemisphere time."

Trained by John Oxx, Born To Sea proved he had inherited his family's talent by winning the Listed Blenheim Stakes on his racecourse debut at two. He then ran Camelot to two lengths when runner-up in the Irish Derby.He also finished a close fifth in the Irish 2,000 Guineas and fourth in the St James's Palace Stakes.
