Gregorian Wins G3 Criterion Stakes

30 Jun 2014

Gregorian exuded class to land the Group 3 Criterion Stakes over the July course at Newmarket. Held up in touch, he made headway three furlongs out, soon taking the lead and, under a hard drive, stayed on well to win with more than a little in hand from Garswood and Eton Forever, two and a half lengths adrift in third. This was the five year old son of Clodovil's third win at Group level, following victories in the G2 Hungerford Stakes and the G3 Diomed Stakes last year. He has also been placed at the highest level on three occasions in the G1 St. James's Palace Stakes, the G1 Prix Jean Prat, and the G1 Queen Anne Stakes last year.

Buick told Racing UK: "We've always thought a lot of him. Maybe as he's getting older he's getting quicker too and seven furlong is his optimum trip now."
