Lyric Ace looks the real deal at Kempton under Richard Hughes

03 May 2012

Thousand Words’ son Lyric Ace triumphed again at Kempton in a five-furlong conditions event for juveniles stamping himself as the best 2 y old colt seen out in 2012. He now steps up into stakes quality races, with top races at the Curragh and Royal Ascot pencilled in to his schedule.

Hughes said that; "For a very fast horse he's got a great stride on him, and he was on the wrong leg all the way, so this wasn't his track... he covers so much ground and he’s quick." TDN pointed out that Lyric Ace “was swiftly into stride to claim the early lead in this one. In command thereafter, he was stoked up approaching the final furlong and kept on strongly under minimal urging in the closing stages to easily hold Chilworth Icon (Sixties Icon {GB})” Richard Hannon jnr commented that : "This is a really nice horse. He's got to be in the Royal Ascot plans and he might well go over to Ireland next for the Marble Hill Stakes."

A big congratulations to winning owners Byerley Thoroughbred and to Richard Hannon for their success!
